Amplify Ten Thousand Villages for Local AND Global Impact!

This Tuesday March 8 marks the start of Amplify Austin – a 24 hour, city-wide giving campaign that rallies thousands of Austinites to support our nonprofit community.

By Amplifying Ten Thousand Villages, you can have a local and global impact and amplify our artisan voices around the world. Already want to donate? You can schedule your donation here.

With the support of Amplify donors and our dedicated customers in 2015, Ten Thousand Villages in Austin has:

Grown and moved. Moving to our bigger-and-better Burnet Road store allowed us to grow our mission and support more artisans around the world, while serving as a community hub for fair trade.

Supported hundreds of artisans. Last year, we purchased over $192, 000 worth of goods to keep artisans working for a sustainable living wage.

Contributed over $5000 to local nonprofits through our Benefit Night program, including Friends of McCallum Students, Animal Trustees of Austin, Room to Read, VSA Texas and many more.

Recognized 12 women change-makers in our community at our annual International Women’s Day Celebration (don’t forget – nominations are now open for our 2016 Awards!)

Provided community service, volunteer and internship opportunities to 150+ individuals, who collectively served over 5000 hours – minimizing our overhead costs and maximizing our impact

Built a fair trade community. Through events such as our Neighborhood Happy Hour, travel classes, artisan information nights and local charity drives, we’re building a fair trade community here on Burnet Road; a space where locals and visitors alike can support and learn about global cultures.

With your help through Amplify Austin, we can continue to grow our mission, support more artisans, and empower Austinites to shop ethically. Your donation will amplify our artisans’ voices – artisans like Lucia, a small business owner respected by her community, and Sonia, who is able to go back to school now that she’s earning an income.
