Welcome Back to School!

Summer is drawing to a close which means it’s time to head back to school again. The ability to receive an education is a great privilege, and by shopping fair trade for your school supplies, you’re supporting education for children all around the world!

We’ve got dorm room decor to stationary supplies, as well as all the coffee, tea, and chocolate you could want to get you through those long study hours. Visit us on Burnet Road before the school year starts to stock up on any and everything you’ll need to make this coming semester a success!

Let’s start with the important stuff – we’ve got all the handmade, sustainable, tree-free paper-filled notebooks you could need. For the journal pictured above, artisan cooperative Eco Friendly Papers in India uses scraps of waste textiles to create their paper and upcycles old notebooks to create the binding – keeping it eco-chic while funding community development halfway across the world!

Next up, you’ll need one of our clutches to carry your pens and pencils. The blue clutch on the left showcases the block print tradition native to Rajasthan, India, wherein artisans hand-carve wooden blocks with patterns, dip them into dye, and carefully stamp the fabric to create beautiful patterns.

The red clutch above is brought to you by UPAVIM and made in Guatemala. Paying a fair price for products such as these enables Guatemalan women to pull themselves out of poverty, as well as helping to support an alternative primary school and daycare in their community.

Maybe you’re a fan of coordination, and you want to expertly match your pencil case with your backpack.  The Global Chic Bag and Clutch pictured above are both handmade in Guatemala, and will fit just about anything you need for a day of classes – iPad, notebook, pens, and fairtrade snack.

To bring a bit of home to your dorm room with you pick up a fairtrade photo frame for some pics of your loved ones – our favorites for the school year are our Mango and Math frames, handcrafted in India out of repurposed rulers.

And we’ve got more decor where that came from! Stop into the store to see our collection of tapestries, art, even quilts – everything you could ever need to create your new home away from home.
